Clelia Cafiero - return to the Opéra de Marseille with La Traviata

The Neapolitan conductor Clelia Cafiero is conducting "La Traviata" at the Opéra de Marseille. Additional performances are scheduled for February 13th and 15th, 2024.

"From the prelude, Clélia Cafiero transports us on the thread of emotion, which becomes the guiding thread of the drama, with silky and delicate strings intersecting festive accents carried by precise winds and brass. An extremely interesting work that has allowed the young woman to receive enthusiastic bravos, shared with the musicians of an orchestra sensitive to this repertoire. It is worth noting that the conductor will lead the only performance of Tosca next summer at the Chorégies d'Orange." (concertclassic)

"Clelia Cafiero's direction sets the great Verdi vehicle in motion, round and generous. The gestures are expansive and breathe bel canto, from the nadir of the pit to the zenith of the stage. The tempi determined by the richness of the score secrete an emotional thread, deep and immediate, allowing the listener to enter into the drama and its nostalgia. The design of the lines between soloists, choir, and pit is clear, the baton becoming a calligrapher's brush, fleeing any decorative intention, including during epidermal crescendos. The Marseille ensemble responds graciously and harmoniously to its conductor, the collective forces knowing how to serve the ensemble lines and the soloists." (olyrix.com)
