Simone Young conducts the "Turangalîla Symphony" with the Berliner Philharmoniker
"Olivier Messiaen's monumental Turangalîla Symphony is a hymn to joy and love in all its facets. Inspired by the Tristan myth, this is an opulent work full of sensuality, ecstasy and spirituality. Messiaen creates his magical soundscapes with an extraordinary orchestral apparatus that includes imposing percussion as well as electronic sounds, plus a highly virtuosic piano part, interpreted in this concert by Cédric Tiberghien. The Berliner Philharmoniker will perform under the baton of SIMONE YOUNG, principal conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra." (Source: Berliner Philharmoniker)
