Sebastian Weigle conducts Wozzeck in Tokyo, Allison Oakes sings Marie and Falk Struckmann sings Doktor
SEBASTIAN WEIGLE conducts the concert performances of „Wozzeck“ in Tokyo with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, with ALLISON OAKES singing Marie and FALK STRUCKMANN singing Doktor.

Since the 2019 season, Sebastian Weigle has been the principal conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo. In the 2024/25 season, he will conduct a concert version of "Wozzeck" and lead a European tour featuring works by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Beethoven. Additional concerts will take him to the Copenhagen Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Weimar, and the Graz Philharmonic. In the opera world, he will return to the Bavarian State Opera to conduct a new production of Strauss' "Die Liebe der Danae" as well as revivals of "Pique Dame" and "Lohengrin."
In the 2024/25 season, the British soprano will make her role debut as Elektra at the Cologne Opera under the direction of Roland Schwab. Following her success as Chyrsothemis (Elektra) with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, she has been invited to return as Marie for concert performances of Wozzeck under Sebastian Weigle. The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino presents the artist in the title role of Strauss' Salome under the baton of Alexander Soddy.
Falk Struckmann will make guest appearances in the 2024/25 season as the Doctor (Wozzeck) with the Yomiuri Orchestra with Sebastian Weigle and with the Hamburg NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra. He will return to the Staatsoper Berlin as Daland (Der fliegende Holländer). He will also appear as Hagen (Götterdämmerung) at the Vienna State Opera.
