Premiere: Kirill Serebrennikov stages "Così fan tutte" at the Komische Oper Berlin

“Mozart’s »School of Lovers« covers the entire spectrum of interpersonal feelings – and returns to the Komische Oper Berlin !
Kirill Serebrennikov's production dissects the emotional states of the two women (Fiordiligi and Dorabella), their coping with grief, and the physical desire between two people, making Mozart's masterpiece more sensually tangible than ever before. The feminine "tutte" in the title, literally "that's how all women(!) do it," becomes a universal imagery in Serebrennikov's production, connecting the complexity of attraction, grief, fidelity, and sex in a modern relationship with Mozart's music. The work doesn't condemn any of the characters, but rather allows the audience a deep insight into the hearts of four lovers.
The production by Russian director Serebrennikov was created in 2018 at the Zurich Opera House, staged via video transmissions from his house arrest in Moscow and with the support of his long-time collaborators. Komische Oper Berlin Così fan tutte is the beginning of a Da Ponte trilogy, the three operas that Mozart wrote with his outstanding librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte: Così fan tutte , Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni .
After American Lulu and Il barbiere di Siviglia , Così fan tutte is already the third work by director Kirill Serebrennikov at the Komische Oper Berlin.” (Source: KOB )
