Philippe Jordan - Regrettably Withdraws from Subscription Concerts with Staatskapelle Berlin

Berlin, October 25, 2023 — It is with great regret that Philippe Jordan has been forced to cancel his planned subscription concerts with the Staatskapelle Berlin on October 30th and 31st, 2023 due to health reasons. The former Kapellmeister of Staatskapelle Berlin was eagerly anticipating his return to the orchestra after 14 years. Despite this setback, he looks forward with heightened anticipation to conducting Wagner's RING Cycle, scheduled for March and April 2024 at Staatsoper Unter den Linden.

In Maestro Jordan’s absence, Markus Poschner is stepping in as the conductor for both concerts. The program for October 30th and 31st remains unchanged: Renowned violinist Gidon Kremer, who has collaborated with Staatskapelle Berlin extensively over the past decades, will be the soloist for Béla Bartók's Violin Concerto No. 1. Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D Major will also be featured.
