Jaap van Zweden receives the Concertgebouw Prize

The Concertgebouw Prize will be presented to conductor Jaap van Zweden on April 18. This award recognizes his exceptional contribution to the artistic profile of the Concertgebouw.

The life of Amsterdam-born Jaap van Zweden is closely linked to the Concertgebouw, where he was appointed the youngest concertmaster of the Concertgebouw Orchestra at the age of 19. From that moment on, he repeatedly enjoyed the acoustics of the concert hall:

"The Concertgebouw is like my second home. The sound of the Concertgebouw has defined my life. I grew up here, as a violinist and as a conductor." (Source: Concertgebouw.nl )
