Annette Dasch debuts as Marschallin at NNT Tokyo

Annette Dasch, one of the world's leading sopranos, debuts the role of the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier and returns to the New National Theater Tokyo for the first time in 14 years. She says of this role, "For me, the Marschallin is one of the most important and profound roles in the operatic repertoire. In the opera, she grows older, changes, and ultimately lets go of her lover. The role seems to embody a woman's life, and I sense an inner strength in her. Strauss's wonderful music conveys the Marschallin's emotions. It is always special to stage this opera." (Source: https://www.nntt.jac.go.jp/english/news/opera/interview-annette-dasch.html)
