Peter Kellner

Worldwide representation (exclusive: Slovakia, Czech Republic)

The Slovakian bass Peter Kellner has been an ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera since the 2018/19 season and has since been able to make a name for himself at international houses such as the MET New York, Covent Garden London and San Francisco.

In the 2024/25 season, Peter Kellner will make a guest appearance at the Lyric Opera Chicago as Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro). He will make his role debut at the Semperoper Dresden as Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor). At the Vienna State Opera, he will appear in all three Mozart/da Ponte operas as Figaro, Leporello and Guglielmo. He will also perform roles such as Colline (La Bohème), Frere Laurent (Roméo et Juliette) and Fernando (Fidelio). He will return to Prague as Watergoblin (Rusalka). In concert, Peter Kellner will sing in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Jaap van Zweden and in Mozart's Requiem at the Prague Spring Festival.

Recent highlights include Colline and Papageno at London's Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Colline for his MET debut, Figaro and Masetto at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, his role debuts as Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) in Hamburg and as Watergoblin (Rusalka) at the National Theatre in Prague, Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Theseus in Midsummer Night's Dream under the direction of Simone Young and Il re di Scozia in Ariodante at the Vienna State Opera. Peter Kellner is a regular guest at the Salzburg Festival, most recently as Brander in La Damnation de Faust, in Elektra and a Mozart matinee.

Peter Kellner is a regular guest at the Salzburg Festival, most recently appearing as Brander in La Damnation de Faust, in Elektra and a Mozart matinee, among others.

Peter Kellner made his debut at the Vienna State Opera as Panthée in Berlioz's Les Troyens, debuted as Ratcliffe (Billy Budd) at Covent Garden London and as Figaro at the Volksoper Wien and at the Glyndebourne Festival. His other repertoire includes roles such as the title role in Handel's Hercules, Colas (Bastien und Bastienne), Dulcamara (Elisir d'amore) and Lord Sidney (Il viaggio a Reims). Already in 2013 he was engaged at the Salzburg Festival as Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail for children and in Don Carlo under the direction of Antonio Pappano.

In addition, Peter Kellner gave concerts in Seville, Basel, Prague, Krasnoyarsk and Mallorca, among others.

Peter Kellner won the Independent Opera Fellowship of the Wigmore Hall Song Competition, the 2nd Prize and Audience Award of the International Mozart Competition Salzburg 2018 and the First Prize of the International Competition Ferruccio Tagliavini in Deutschlandsberg. He has so far worked with conductors such as Sir Antonio Pappano, Vasily Petrenko, Adam Fischer, Bertrand de Billy, Marco Armiliato, Ivor Bolton, Friedrich Haider and others, and orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Camerata Salzburg, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony, Košice State Philharmonic and Graz Philharmonic.

Peter Kellner comes from the Slovak Republic and studied at the Košice Conservatory with M. Adamenko, at the Mozarteum Salzburg with B. Bakow and graduated with a Bachelor's degree with A. Sol at the University of Arts in Graz. From there he was engaged to Oldenburg and later to the ensemble of the Opera Graz.
